About the Show/Event

There’s Something Seriously Wrong With Cyrus is a 65 minute solo comedy written and performed by Cyrus Deboo. Combining storytelling, multimedia, pop music, and more than 20 characters, the show explores what it means to grow up feeling like you never quite fit in.

Raised by traditional immigrant parents, Cyrus spent years trying to be who everyone else needed him to be. Through funny, honest, and sometimes painfully awkward stories, he shares his journey through family expectations, identity, relationships, and the endless search for acceptance. As the show unfolds, the laughs give way to something deeper as he begins to question the patterns that shaped his life and discovers that embracing his imperfections may be the healthiest thing he has ever done.

While the show draws from Cyrus’s own experiences, the themes are universal. Anyone who has ever felt like the outsider, the peacekeeper, or the person trying a little too hard to be enough will recognize themselves in these stories.

The show has been performed at NYC Fringe, Orlando Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe, United Solo NY, Santa Monica Binge Fringe and premiered at Hollywood Fringe 2024 where it received the Zephyr Zest Encore Award. Audiences have connected with its mix of humor, vulnerability, and honesty, leaving the theater laughing, reflecting, and feeling a little less alone.
